We are here to make a comparison between Windows Defender and Bitdefender.
With all the threats out there, you cannot live without an antivirus. You need to choose one that suits you best. You might have to pay a bit for Bitdefender, but it might turn out to be what you need. Windows Defender is free, which means it has some limitations.

With this one, you get real-time data protection and advanced threat defense. This comes with every package. It will defend you against any kind of malware, even those that are hard to spot. Most of the packages come with protection against cyber attacks that usually get in control of your mic and webcam. We highly recommend you to get Bitdefender.
It takes things to the next level: with software and WiFi vulnerability scans. You also get a firewall for the outside threats.
Windows Defender
This one is the default antivirus option for most of the Windows users. It is part of Windows itself. Depending on the type of Windows, its name is either Windows Security or Windows Defender Security.
Once you get another one, it will switch itself off and let the other take control over your computer. And when you remove it, Windows Defender will activate itself again.
With it, you can run a quick scan, you can scan specific folders or drives or your entire system. It comes with web protection – all thanks to SmartScreen and the anti-malware protection. It will soon be available for Google Chrome, with the Windows Defender Browser Protection extension.
It also has protection against ransomware. It will protect some specific folders by default, such as your documents folder, but you can choose which ones to protect. It automatically backs up the files to your OneDrive account.
